FARM DAM FEASIBILITY, CENTRAL OTAGO

This project involved a hydrological and geotechnical feasibility for irrigation dams on a remote site in Central Otago up to 11.5 m with potential to store 200,000 m3+.

GeoSolve firstly assessed  storage requirements, potential catchment yields and identified suitable dam sites that could provide all-year round water security. Geotechnical investigation of the preferred dam sites was then undertaken by experienced engineering geologists to determine the dam foundation conditions and identify materials suitable for dam construction.

The investigation found the site to be favorable for dam construction, and a concept design utilising site-won materials was progressed to allow the client to consider dams against other potential water sources.
